Do you work hard and play harder? Are you overcommitted, overscheduled, and just plain overly stressed? Than THIS is FOR YOU!
Over the course of 3 weeks, we will address challenges/tightness/chronic holding patterns that accumulate in the hips/pelvis/low back, shoulders/neck/upper back, feet/legs/hands and wrists from our busy and often stress-filled lifestyles. Through gentle somatic movement, simple yoga poses, breathing techniques, and the use of various balls and blocks, you will learn LOTS of self-massage techniques, how to soothe the nervous system from too much stress, unwind chronic holding patterns in the body, meditation and relaxation techniques to relax and focus the mind. All of these will help to decrease stress, pain and tension. Overall you will improve focus, bring peace to mind and body, and increase your body’s natural ability for healing. This is a feel good class for Every Body!
We will tackle tight spots in the head, jaw, neck, shoulders, rotater cuff muscles, and pecs (chest muscles) through self-massage techniques using tennis balls, lacrosse balls, “double” balls, and yoga blocks. We will unwind holding patterns and increase range of motion through somatic movements designed to calm our overly stressed nervous systems. Through simple and gentle yoga, we will move slowly to create and integrate new movement patterns in the body. All of this will be interwoven with breath awareness techniques and simple meditation. You will leave feeling more free, open, and aligned, Mind, Body & Spirit.
In the second of the 3- week series, we will dive into areas that are recognized as a place where emotions, past traumas, and fear are stored. We dive into the hips, glutes (booty muscles) pelvis, low back, sacrum, and the infamous Psoas. With the use of various balls and blocks, we will begin to release built up tension and relieve discomfort accumulated from one of the biggest causes; Sitting. Somatic movements will help us to unwind and realign to a more healthy and less painful way of moving. As we learn to let go, emotions may arise and tears may come to your eyes. Breathe into it, breathe through it, and find yourself a little lighter and brighter on the other side.
Wrapping up our 3-week journey, will bring us to that which grounds us firmly to the earth and that which lifts us up. We will tackle the hands and wrists, feet, calves, hamstrings, quads (front of legs), hip flexors, and the good ol’ IT Band. We must have a solid, stable foundation from which to stand confidently in our essence as well as open and supple hands with which to reach into our world and out for one another. We will work out the aches and pains, and stubborn spots built up from standing, running, skiing, cycling, gardening, computer work, and all the things we use our hands for.
