Yoga Nidra Workshop
Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness achieved through deep relaxation, dropping you into a deep meditative alpha and theta brain wave state, all while remaining conscious and alert. It is a place where we can tap into the parasympathetic nervous system to maximize self-healing as well as unwind habituated patterns that serve us poorly. It helps to balance our nervous systems, bringing us into a deeper state
of integration, mind, body and spirit.
This practice has been around for over 5000 years and in its recent applications, has been used effectively in reducing stress, physical tension, pain, anxiety, depression and is successfully used to help veterans manage and overcome the symptoms of PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder). Yoga Nidra is easy to do, readily accessible , and can illicit profound positive results in healing and quality of life.
Enjoy a grounding, mindful, gentle flow of yoga poses followed by a brief discussion on the history, use, and benefits of Yoga Nidra or “Yogic Sleep”. We will then explore a fully guided Yoga Nidra session, done lying down. This workshop will conclude with a chance to reflect on your experience in the group and answer any questions you might have before we close with a moment of gratitude. Please bring a small, soft pillow for under your head. We will be laying down for the practice and comfort is of the utmost importance!
