A Self-Care Workshop

Yoga is an ancient practice more than 5000 years old, proven over time to be invaluable in it’s therapeutic, healing effects. And while yoga has become one of the most rapidly growing forms of movement in the world today, many of the classes offered are lacking in therapeutic value and are more of a calisthenics routine than a path to healing. While there is nothing wrong with a juicy, sweaty workout, quite often we are already pushing ourselves to our limits in our jobs, families, recreational activities and social responsibilities. We are quite honestly, red-lining our lives. Yoga as a therapeutic, healing model rather than another “thing” to do harder, faster, stronger, is exactly what our nervous systems are crying for! In this workshop we will discuss the adverse effects our busy lifestyles can have on us, how this shows up in our bodies and minds, and how we can mitigate and manage this stress for a healthier, happier You. Over these two days you will explore sweet, slow somatic movements designed to unwind the chronic patterns our nervous system holds within our bodies. You will discover and release areas of long-held muscular tension in the body through the use of various blocks and balls. The grip of stress on the mind will begin to unfold itself through intentional breathwork and meditative practices, gently awakening our systems back to balance, homeostasis. You will leave relaxed, refreshed and equipped with simple tools to tap into a sense of enduring peace and joy that is at our very essence, our innate wisdom. This workshop is most effective taken in its entirety, however each class can be taken individually. Each session will consist of discussion, movement, massage and meditation.
We will address specifically the lower body to include the feet, calves, hamstrings, hip flexors (psoas), glutes and pelvis.
We will address specifically the upper body to include the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine, the pectorals, rotater cuff muscles, arms, wrists and hands.
